App

Whatsapp web with responsive design based on electron

About Whatsnew

[ Application aimed to run on "24.04" stable. ⚠️ Absolutely no guaranty on other versions of UT, including focal, daily or bleeding edge: it can crash or not work properly ]

This app aims to offer Whatsapp web inside a newer web engine, thanks to an electron application, and by injecting a js script to make the UI responsive. This is not an official Whatsapp client, but it is a clever way to display the official "Whatsapp web" client inside a Webview, to give an experience as close as possible to a native app.

Supports:

- Audio calls ( you currently need to enable "Beta", and wait for the messages to be fully synced in whatsapp web to have calls )
- Sending and receiving text messages
- Notifications when keeping the app open in background
- Import / Export attachments via ContentHub
- Sending and receiving audio messages
- Open URL externally via URLdispatcher

Current limitations:
- No copy and paste with other apps.
- No access to the camera so no video calls possible.
- You can only upload files one by one.

Note: You can only pin the application to the launcher while you are exporting a file through contentHub.

WARNING: if you allow the app to access the microphone, at the moment whatsapp can in theory access your microphone at any moment when the app is open, even when your phone is suspended and the screen is off. Though there is currently no sign of unauthorized access to the microphone coming for whatsapp outside of recording audio message, or calling. You can always revoke the microphone authorization within the system settings, and enable it only when you need to use it!

Recent Changes

Version 0.1.6:
- Adapt to a change upstream that broke the app
- Improve ContentHub to Import/Export files
- Fix broken app on 24.04-1.x daily

Yay! Just minor issues when choosing emojis as reaction on messages, but that's it ❤

Audio calls do work! Hearing the other person has a slight delay and small interruptions but it is usable. Currently this is the only way to have whatsapp web in UT. Many, many thanks!
