About Cinny UT

Cinny about Cinny:
"A Matrix client focusing primarily on simple, elegant and secure interface. The main goal is to have an instant messaging application that is easy on people and has a modern touch."
A huge thanks goes to all the cinny devs who maintain and improve this apps main codebase.

This is Cinny packaged for Ubuntu Touch with content hub integration and other changes to make it run as a native matrix client. The original work has been done by @nitanmarcel. Many thanks for that! Now the app is maintained by Danfro.

Cinny does not only allow to let you have matrix messages on your UT device. With bridges you can have many more messages available like Signal or Slack. Please check the internet for available matrix bridges.

!!!Important note:
When you log out of Cinny (or another matrix client) and login again:
- this new login will need to be verified as a new device similar to when using another client or device
- in encrypted rooms you will only be able to see all new messages after the verification
Those are matrix security features to avoid fraudsters getting access to your messages.

To verify your login, you need
- either another active login on another device (most other apps or browser based matrix logins will do)
- your matrix message encryption keys

Matrix does keep all your chats, bridges and contacts. But with simply verifying a device, you will only be able to access new messages. To access older messages you NEED to have your matrix encryption keys, ideally from the device where you signed up for matrix initially so all chats are readable.

To backup encryption keys in Cinny
- open account settings (on main page bottom left)
- go to devices
- scroll to the bottom
- expand "Export Messages Data"
- add a password, confirm the password and press export

"As a safety measure, please logout and login your account from Cinny once.
Note: Make sure you have working key-backup or take a manual backup for the encrypted chat keys before logging out."

Soooo coool! Cinny isnt available on android & ios as a native app afaik, so its amazing to see the tables turned for a change 😆 Really Nice app, mirror of the desktop client in terms of ui and great to have notifications working too ❤

works like a charm, may i suggest adding long press on enter button in maliit as shift+enter, this is done by teleports and is very useful.

Really, really nice app. Even if diesn't look native (:D) it looks kind in synthony of UT. Notifications in Focal kinda work. Very useful for Signal >_>
